168. " those who said about their brethren while themselves sat (at home): ` had they obeyed us, they would not have been killed '. say: ` avert death from yourselves then, if you are truthful." commentary: besides that the hypocrites themselves refrained from going to the battle of 'uhud, when the strivers were returning back from fight, they reproached them. the qur'an answers their groundless speech in this verse. it says: " those who said about their brethren while themselves sat (at home): ` had they obeyed us, they would not have been killed '. say: ` avert death from yourselves then, if you are truthful."
